Material
Real pine wood – no chipboard
Frame, posts, slats and slatted base – everything on this bed is made of pine wood. No chipboard, no foil-wrapped MDF. Wood holds screws firmly, even after moving house or rebuilding the bed.

Frequently asked questions about MALVA
What age is the bed suitable for?
As soon as your child climbs out of the cot – usually at 1½ to 2 years. The safety rail keeps them safely in bed at night.
Does a standard mattress fit?
Yes. The bed size is the mattress size, for example 90 × 200 cm. You'll find a matching one under Mattresses – 15% off when bought with the bed.
Does it need a safety rail?
For children under 3 we recommend it – available as an option for £30, simply removed later.
Is there a drawer for it?
Yes, optional, in the colour of the bed: a large storage drawer (+£120), two small drawers (+£120) or a drawer with guest bed function (+£140) – a second bed for sleepovers. For the guest bed, choose a mattress 10 cm shorter than the bed and no more than 10 cm high.
What is the bed made of?
First-class pine. All edges are rounded and sanded; the colours are water-based lacquers to EN 71-3. Natural stays untreated.
Why does retro look different in the photos?
Retro is a stain that leaves the grain visible. It looks darker in daylight and warmer in the evening – and every piece of pine takes the colour a little differently.
How high is the headboard?
81.5 cm at the top of the curve, the footboard 62.5 cm. The sleeping surface is 31.5 cm above the floor – three-year-olds climb in and out on their own.

MALVA Children’s Bed – a children’s bed in pine
The MALVA children’s bed pairs natural wood with a detail you notice straight away: the tall headboard has a gently curved top edge. This calm wave takes the severity out of the bed and makes it the eye-catcher of the room – without ornaments nobody likes two years later.
The headboard is practical as well as pretty: 81.5 cm high, with two pillows a comfortable backrest for bedtime stories, audiobooks or an afternoon rest. The footboard is lower (62.5 cm) and the sleeping surface is 31.5 cm above the floor – small children climb in and out on their own.
MALVA is built from first-class pine; all edges are rounded and sanded. The bed comes untreated (natural) or with water-based lacquers in clear coat, white, grey, cashmere and retro – and in 7 sizes from 80 × 160 to 120 × 200 cm. Under the bed there is room for an optional drawer: as storage, as two small drawers or with a guest bed function for sleepovers. For the youngest there is a removable safety rail.

The price includes the bed with a wooden slatted base. The mattress is available separately – you can add it directly when ordering. When bought as a set, you automatically get 10% off the mattress. You will find our mattresses under Children’s Mattresses.
Most models are available in 5 colours: Natural, Clear lacquer, White, Grey and Retro. Sizes range from 80×160 to 120×200 cm – depending on the model. You can see all the options in the configurator above.
All beds are made of FSC-certified pine wood and finished with non-toxic water-based paints compliant with EN 71-3. The construction supports up to 190 kg. The safety rail can be fitted on either side and removed at any time. You get a 5-year warranty.
